Salmon is a successful professional services firm specialising in the delivery of technology-based business solutions to predominantly the Retail, Insurance and Finance sectors. This is a key role working with us on a high-profile engagement for a leading multi-channel organisation based in the North West of England. Our preference is for locally based resources with significant J2EE expertise and exposure to ecommerce platforms. This project will include all of the latest technologies. We are looking for a strong Java/J2EE technical architect or Senior Developer with exposure to web based technologies. The successful applicant will work with other highly skilled J2EE Developers on the delivery of a key aspect of our client’s strategic enablement of their B2C ecommerce platform. Key orientation will include a focus on solid component based development for a B2C channel, along with Content Management System (CMS) exposure alongside a willingness to deliver to deadlines and apply best practice to maintain a high level of quality. Experience Requirements •You will have significant full project lifecycle experience in delivering complex, high volume transaction web based applications •Solid core Java/J2EE architectural and development skills – J2EE 1.4 and 1.5, at least 4-5yrs commercial experience required •Exposure to B2C ecommerce environments •Solid exposure to object oriented design and UML notation along with knowledge of design patterns. •Team Leading experience highly beneficial •Significant experience in web front end development including substantial knowledge in JSP/Servlets, Spring, JSF and MVC based frameworks. •Web technologies (Javascript, CSS, HTML, XHTML, AJAX) •Appreciation of end to end ecommerce, including content management, web analytics, customer experience, search, payment gateways etc •Knowledge of one or more of the following: IBM WebSphere Application Server, BEA WebLogic, JBoss, Tomcat or equivalent platform. •A working knowledge of one or more of the following development tools: JBuilder, Eclipse, WSAD/RAD,RSA, JDeveloper, or equivalent IDE •Usage of formal version control systems (e.g. CVS) and team work experience. •Good Database SQL skills, along with JDBC. •A working knowledge of one or more of the following databases: Oracle, DB2, MySQL •Highly committed individual, able to work to deadlines and deliver quality content •Good written and verbal communications •Client facing role •Ability to lead discussion on key architectural issues •Appreciation of performance management •Understanding of J2EE deployment concerns and its automation •Understanding of Service Oriented Architecture, practices and technology •Jakarta libraries such as Struts, Log4J, Commons, Axis and JUnit
