HowTo - Prepare yourself for the interview - Part 2

Make sure you're ready when you finally head off to that interview. It's important that you're prepared and, fortunately, it's something that you can do in advance. The more you do beforehand, the readier you are on the day.

1. Your skills

We'll assume you know your job and that you know what you do! If not, perhaps now's a good time to read up on your skills!

But seriously, it doesn't hurt to have a little revision on your key skills and knowledge. Have a read of a recent journal or article that would be relevant to your job.

2. Your bag

Have copies. Be professional and assume your interviewer is a klutz who will be disorganised and forget everything!

  • Make sure you have copies of your CV printed out and other letters (such as References) that you may have sent them
  • Pack some pencils and a notepad
  • Print out the address of the office with a map of how to get there.
  • Plan the journey from your house to the company. For example, if you're in London, TFL (Transport for London) do a great Journey Planner. Just put in the postcode of the Start and End points to get a route with overall journey time. They also have travel information such as train and tube delays which you can check first thing before you head off
